As suggested by Amit and Sharnindar
Please note that i have taken each item mentioned in the list(even the optional ones). That is because I was travelling alone. However, as you guys are in a group, you can share certain spares or other stuff as they may be common across bikes/people. Do not overload the bikes. The idea is to have fun while we are on a mission and not to mess up things. Wish you all a happy and safe riding and enhanced bonding :).
Things to take
Bike Spares
Headlamp/tail lamp bulb
Spark plug
Fuse
Brake, accelerator and clutch cables
Clutch/brake levers and yokes
Sprocket Chain lock
Fuel line/pipe and filter (these connect the fuel tank to the carburetor)
Tool kit (this has to be apart from the one already present in the bike)
Puncture repair kit (Puncture patches, rubber solution, foot pump)
Front and rear tyre tubes
Important nuts and bolts/screws (check with your mechanic/service center)
Oil dispenser(budli) for oiling chain (available on hand carts on Laxmi Road)
Brake pads (optional)
Bike User manual
All relevant bike papers (NOC not required) like valid insurance, RC/TC, PUC, license. Copies of all the papers to be maintained separately.
Sand paper (to clean spark plug) or spark plug cleaning tool
Tyre valve key (required to open the valve in case of a puncture)
Electrical tape/cello tape
Old toothbrush to clean carburetor if required
Thermocol cutter blade
Helmet with a new/scratchless visor
Engine Oil-1/2 liter common across all bikes. 2T oil in case the bike is 2 stroke.
Know-how of where, when and how to use all these
Don't bother about carrying engine oil too much. An oil change before the trip will last the entire trip unless there is something wrong with the bike. Carry the half liter engine oil only for emergencies and chain lubrication purposes. Oil is available at all the petrol pumps in Srinagar, Kargil and Leh. Infact everything is available at Leh. Having said that do keep checking the oil level at regular intervals.
Other Essentials
Cash – Rs. 5000/- to start with. Withdraw more at Srinagar (Citibank/ICICI)/Leh(SBI)
Back pack
Camera and related batteries/chargers
Thermals – required from Srinagar onwards

Thin towel/pancha
3 pairs of socks-1 pair to be woolen
Ankle length shoes-preferably water proof (can try DMS/army shoes-easily available)
Chain and lock – to secure bikes at night

Tarpaulin – for external waterproofing (the blue colored one used by tapirs/small shops that we see during rains)
Take 5-6 passport size photos (ofcourse your own) and
Tolet Paper (this could come quite 'handy' as the water you may find may be too cold or there may not be any water at all ;) )

Please go to a doctor and get a checkup done. Tell the doc about the trip and ask for prescription of tablets required. Take into consideration all eventualities like fever, stomach upset, cold, cough, dizziness, head ache. Write the name of every medicine and the illness it cures clearly on a piece of paper and keep it in the medical kit.
